Make a Name for Yourself & Your Company Through PR
Why PR?
If getting third party recognition and building credibility helps your business, you should pursue public relations as a marketing tool.

How Easy Is It?
Much easier than you think. All it takes is planning, repetition, and knowing what your target audience wants.

How Do I Start?
Put together a publicity plan. Focus on your business audience, who you want to reach and why you want to reach them. Then choose the media outlets (newspapers, magazines, radio, television, chamber newsletters, etc.) that reach your audience. Never plan on just one press release. Be ready to send press releases on a regular basis (repetition) so the news outlets become familiar with you (but not too many so you become obnoxious).

Do Your Homework.
Find out what each different media outlet requires, their deadlines for submittals, and get a contact. Above all, tailor your press release to meet what the particular media outlet wants. Remember: You need to provide a news item that the media finds "newsworthy." That means your press release has to be of interest to their readers or listeners.

Nowadays, most press releases can be sent via fax or email. Make it as easy and newsworthy for the editor as possible, and chances are, you'll make a name for yourself.
